I Am Legend duo might float again on City That Sailed
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Thursday, July 9, 2009

In addition to developing their prequel to I Am Legend, director Francis Lawrence and star Will Smith are also working on a second possible collaboration, a family drama with a fantastic element called City That Sailed.
According to Variety, the project would see Smith play a father that lives in England while his young daughter resides in Manhattan. The father-daughter connection and desire to see one another is so great that it causes the island to actually detach from its foundation and sail across the Atlantic so the two could be reunited. I guess the love of the Smiths is stronger than the families who make the commute from New Jersey to Manhattan and who would now be separated from their loved ones.
The script for City That Sailed had already been finished but now 20th Century Fox has hired the Ocean's Thirteen and Rounders duo Brian Koppelman and David Levien to rewrite Andrew Niccol's screenplay.
City That Sailed is just one of many projects that Will Smith could make. He's currently serving as a producer on The Karate Kid remake that his son Jaden will star in. He's shown interest in nearly two dozen film projects ranging from an English remake of the Korean action-thriller Old Boy to playing The Last Pharaoh to a supernatural thriller called Angelology.
So..... the prequel would show lot's of Emma Thompson curing cancer?
It was quite clear that just about everybody involved in I Am Legend didn't really understand what the book was actually about. The Protovesich script for the Ridley Scott version to have starred Ahnuld was far better.
The I am Legend prequel, sounds pretty lame, on its face. The Karate Kid deal sounds like another joke.
