When word broke online that there had been "heightened interest" from the producers of Warner Bros. new Superman movie to cast Kevin Costner in their film, at the time no one knew what the part would be. A few hours later we had the answer from a different website: according to Latino Review's source, Costner is playing Superman's adoptive Earth father Jonathan "Pa" Kent.

LR's source is pretty sure that's who Costner is playing, and really, when you stop to think about the usual suspects in a Superman movie, Costner best fits the Pa Kent profile. The next most likely candidate would be that of Daily Planet editor-in-chief Perry White, but that doesn't feel quite as right as Clark Kent's adoptive daddy.

What's interesting to note is that I've read online talk from people saying how much Henry Cavill has some resemblance to Smallville's Tom Welling. If Costner is indeed playing Pa Kent then the Smallville copycat talk will likely continue' Costner's blonde locks make him more comparible to Smallville's John Schneider than Superman: The Movie's Glenn Ford's grey haired Pa Kent.
