The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra cast announced
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Tuesday, March 8, 2011
The first image from The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra, the sequel series to the immensly popular Avatar: The Last Airbender, has debuted online. While it seems like an unusual place to expect this kind of information, The Wall Street Journal landed the two back-to-back exclusives from the Nickelodeon series set to debut in 2012.
Set 70 years after the end of the first show, Legend of Korra will follow a female avatar who controls the powers of air, fire, water and land. Providing the voice of Korra is Janet Varney. Also revealed by TWSJ were the other actors and the characters that they voice in the series, including Kiernan Shipka (Sally Draper in Mad Men) as Jinora; Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Hawaii 5-O) as Hiroshi Sato; David Faustino (Married With Children) as Mako; Seychelle Gabriel as Asami; Lance Henriksen (Aliens) as Lieutenant; P.J. Byrne as Bolin; and JK Simmons (Spider-Man) as Tenzin.
The show has been given an initial order of 12 episodes, and the story arc will show Korra as she masters the Airbending arts from the son of Aang, Tenzin. In Republic City, the place that Korra lives in, the populace is undergoing a revolt against benders, believing them to be harmful to the order of things.
