A look at the unused Jurassic Park 4 dino-human hybrids
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Wednesday, October 10, 2012

It hasn't been a secret that Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have been trying to make a Jurassic Park 4. Nor is it a secret that way back in 2005 they were tinkering around with a JP4 story that would have seen cloned dinosaurs created with a mixture of human DNA, thus giving us terrifying new creatures that were part dinosaur and part human.
A screenplay was written by John Sayles (and later rewritten by William Monahan) but the idea never went any further than the script stage. Like any aborted Hollywood project that never progressed further into actual production, there might have been conceptual designs drawn up for this Jurassic Park 4 concept, but they would have been stored away under lock and key, never seeing the light of day.
The internet has changed that. Someone (and no one knows for sure who) uploaded 12 images showing the freaky Jurassic Park 4 dino-human hybrids. Since the leak their authenticity has been confirmed by Carloa Huante, a concept artist who did the work for Industrial Light + Magic seven years ago.
The designs show altered velociraptors, a T-rex, triceratops and other saurian-human creatures, some more human looking than the others.

Whether you think that introducing human-dinosaur hybrids would have been the wrong or right thing to do, the leak of Jurassic Park 4 concept art is fascinating to look at. It certainly appears that Huante's creature design would have been downright scary, if not disturbing, to see running amok on the big screen.
Right now screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) are working on a brand new Jurassic Park 4 screenplay, the nature of which is still a secret.
