Development continues on the movie adaptation of Red, based on the WildStorm/DC Comics title of the same name. With Bruce Willis already a sure thing to star in the action-thriller, negotiations have begun with Morgan Freeman about becoming the second cast member in the flick.
Created by writer Warren Ellis (Planetary) and illustrated by Cully Hamner, Red was first published in 2003 as a three-issue mini-series. After many years doing their dirty work Paul Moses (Willis' character) has retired from the CIA and is living a quiet life -- until a new director is appointed to the agency and decides that Moses knows too much and is a loose thread from the past that needs to be cut.
The script is still being finished by writers Erich and Jon Hoeber (Whiteout). The pic is set up at Summit Entertainment and should be rolling in front of cameras come the fall. Freeman's next film will be Clint Eastwood's Invictus, opening in theaters this coming Christmas.
