Actress Natasha Richardson, wife of Liam Neeson, has been seriously injured in a skiing accident that took place yesterday. News of Richardson's grave condition leaked out to the press today.

Her injury occurred when she was skiing down a beginner's run at the Mont Tremblant ski resort. Richardson was under the supervision of a ski instructor and took what seemed to be a minor fall. After insisting that she was alright and initially laughing off the injury, on the advice of the ski patrol she was brought off the hill and taken to a doctor where she complained of a headache. She was taken to nearby Sacre-Coeur Hospital for further treatment. Sometime after Richardson's admission to Sacre-Coeur her condition deteriorated but details concerning the progression of her injuries are not being made available to the press at this time.

Earlier today several outlets reported that Richardson was brain dead or even deceased, with the latter news stories later retracted.

As it stands right now the 45-year-old Richardson is en route to New York from the Montreal hospital where she was being treated. Neeson, who had been on a film set in Toronto when his wife's accident took place, is now with her.

Richardson met her husband on the set of the 1994 movie Nell. Among her three dozen television and film credits are The Handmaid's Tale, Fat Man and Little Boy, the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap and Maid in Manhattan. She is the mother of two boys with Neeson.
