A new screenwriter for Grayskull

Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Wednesday, May 13, 2009

There's new blood at Castle Grayskull.

Writer Evan Daugherty has been given his first big job and it's to do a re-do of Grayskull, the live-action Masters of the Universe movie in development at Warner Bros. Silver Pictures selected neophyte Daugherty to get a fresh handle on the story after dismissing the draft that Justin Marks (Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li) did.

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Daugherty got the attention of Hollywood by entering the contest held by Script Pimp where aspiring screenwriters submit their best script and the winner gets looked at by some real players in the 'wood. Daugherty's script, Shrapnel, got put on the Black List, the annual round-up of the best unproduced screenplays as picked by the readers working for agencies and studios. Someone at Silver must have read Shrapnel, liked it, and that combination of luck and circumstance is all it took for Daugherty to land the assignment.

So Evan, just between us, does He-Man wear a loincloth in your story?

He-Man was without a doubt the gayest show on TV. It was practically pink propoganda. It makes 300 look like straights only night at the coal mine bar.

Oh yeah, lived on his own with his pink tunic and his cat. Kept a secret which involved hanging out with his ripped pals like Man At Arms (complete with Village People 'tache), Ram Man and Fisto! Wasn't so into bears though, as his constant spurning of Beast Man's advances proved. Frequently was forced into awkward rejection of female advances from a number of sources. Couldn't be more totally GHEY !!!!

I have no faith in writers becuz they don't hav the balls 2 stand up to directors and directors don't have the balls to stand up to Studios. The reason movies suck these days is because every one wants to get paid no matter what they're involved in I've seen Disney adaptations that have turned out better than 90% of the comic book, video game movies that have been put out in the last idk 6 to 7 years. Now a days it's almost as if the production team behind a movie of this genre wants it to fail. I grew watching that `87 BS and it was crap then and it's only gotten worst as I grew up. If you sit down read a script, don't like it and still make a movie out of that then you're a piece of **** and I think I speak for every die hard fan of any thing `80's related when I say Go **** Your-SELF if you hate our era, you ****ing tree huggers

Ya know, Daltons may have a good idea here.... If you're going to remake He-Man (which is a goofily dumb idea) go overboard about it and intentially make it so Adam is Gay. Pull a Bruno/ Ambiguously Gay Duo style of comic movie. Everybody jokes about its gayness....so then do it. I'm not saying being a gay-bashing redneck movie, but have the humorous undercurrents like "Meet the Spartans" tried to do (but make this funny...) Adam avoiding a oversexed Teela, His cat being effiminate, and Man at Arms shaking his head constantly as Adam is unaware of his own gayness....
Could be funny!
