Ramis hints at 2011 for Ghostbusters III

Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Wednesday, December 30, 2009

Heeb magazine, the place for appreciation of hip Judiaism culture, has an interview with Year One director (and Ghostbusters cast member) Harold Ramis. In the nearly 20 years since the release of Ghostbusters II, Egon's hair has gone nearly snow white but Ramis' acerbic wit hasn't diminished.

The interview covers the breadth of Ramis' film career, touching on questions concerning Stripes, Groundhog Day and his thoughts on today's movie comedians. And then Heeb's interviewer hits up Ramis with the manditory Ghostbusters III question about when the heck this sequel is gonna happen:

"Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it," Ramis answered. "Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future ... GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011 … Oh, and I have two one-of-a-kind Ghostbuster yarmulkes sent by fans."

Why does Ramis answer this question like he doesn't know that a couple of writers/producers from The Office (Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky) aren't working on a new screenplay right now? Doesn't he get the memos from Dan Ackroyd that everyone else receives?

-Heeb magazine.

WTF is a Ghostbusters yarmulke? [edit - I now realize its a jewish cap that is worn on the head... too cool, the fans must really be thinking of Harrold Ramis and Ghostbusters]

if i had to pick one project that i'd like to see Bill Murray do its Ghostbusters III and i really do not understand why its taken them this long to get it made and it it into theaters.

also what did Ramis mean when he said "Think Christopher Lloyd from Back to the Future III" WTF??? uh yeah Ramis.. I'm thinking....

Doc Brown didnt train a new crop of time travelers to take up his slack.. no, he wanted to destroy the DeLorean in 1985 after Marty was home safe and everything had been reset back to normal or better than normal.

Alan, dude it's BECAUSE of Murray that it's taken so long. Ramis and Ackroyd have been trying to get this thing off the ground for years and it's been Bill holding out not wanting to move forward. Hollywood in general was smart enough to know that doing another movie sans Murray wouldn't work so no one was willing to put anything behind the project.

that's mainly because MURRAY continues to have a healthy thriving screen career while Dan Ackroyd, Harrold Ramis and Ivan Reitman do not.

I love you like a brother but you're insane, lol. Murray is washed up. He's had a string of failed, forgetful roles over the last decade. Ackroyd's been laying low and enjoying life, Ramis has been producing and directing a lot successful films and tv shows and Ivan Reitman is Ivan Reitman. He doesn't have to do anything. He's a GODDDD!!!!!!
