Just as the man did two years ago in 2008, the king of screams has returned to tell his Dear Readers what movies topped his personal enjoyment threshold this past year. In the new ish of Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King tells us what his top ten movies of 2010 were. His choices might surprise you.
King knows that he's no Pauline Kael. He's upfront and honest about his appreciation for mainstream movies, and even though I'll shake my head and scoff at some of his best flicks from his personal list, I admire the man for listening to what his heart tells him and not what critics tell him to like.
That said: Takers? Really, Steve?
Steve's top ten movies for 2010 were:
- Let Me In
- The Town
- Inception
- The Social Network
- Takers
- Kick-Ass
- Splice
- Monsters
- Jackass 3D
- Green Zone
Y'know, now that I think about it, Takers spent quite a bit of time in the top ten during its run at the box office. I guess that I can't fault a guy for liking Takers when three monster movies are in his top ten for the year.
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly with Mr. King's top ten, and his reasonings for picking these films, hits newsstands on Friday.
