Strange Adventures for Lovecraft at Universal
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Thursday, March 26, 2009
Two weeks before it arrives in comic book stores the screen rights to The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft have been bought. Universal Pictures has paid for the property and given it to Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's Imagine Enteratinment to develop.
Set to come out on April 8 from Image Comics, The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft presupposes that the early 20th century horror writer was cursed by a evil book, allowing whatever nightmares he imagined to come to life. The comic's Lovecraft also mirrors the real-life person by including the mental illnesses and dysfunctional family issues that he faced.
The comic was created by Mac Carter, a director of over 100 TV commercials and Jeff Blitz. Carter will also write the screenplay for the film while both men get an executive producer credit.

Ron Howard?! Well, as long as he doesn't direct. I'm sorry, nothing against him, but I want my Lovecraftian tableau untainted by the likes of Opie.
