The man that brought us A Beautiful Mind is stretching his creative talent by producing Universal's Stretch Armstrong movie. Brian Grazer, who has had a longtime working association with Universal, will make this the first movie to come to fruition from the arrangement between toy creator Hasbro and the studio.

Universal has also wrapped its arms around a release date: April 15, 2011.

"Stretch Armstrong is a character I have wanted to see onscreen for a long time," Grazer said. "He's an unconventional kind of superhero with a power that no one would want." Maybe Brian just hasn't thought much of what kind of cool career opportunities having 18-foot arms would get you.

Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty) will write the screenplay as fast as his fingers will let him. I wonder if Oedekirk will make Stretch's adversary Wretch Armstrong, the toy that was included in Hasbro's product line. Maybe an appearance by Fetch Armstrong, Stretch's faithful pooch?
