Tatooine Suns t-shirt
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Tuesday, February 8, 2011
What's turning more into a sizeable niche business is the underground market for quasi-legal, pop culture t-shirts. Sure, the shirt designers may be skirting the limits of copyright law but since it's a low end market and the product isn't cutting into the sale of legitimate goods, the trade is booming online. Several different t-shirt companies exist that cater to this kind of apparel, and usually the goods that they hawk are cool threads to wear.
One such company is Teefury. Their gimmick is that they only sell the t-shirt being offered on their site for a single day, so if you don't get in while the deal of the day is for sale, you're outta luck come tomorrow. Teefury also has a really reasonable price for all of their shirt designs, just $9 plus shipping.
One of the most popular franchises that the designers borrow from is George Lucas' Star Wars, and today's Teefury design takes some of its inspiration from that galaxy far, far away. I said "some" because the Y chromosome that went into the Tatoonine Suns shirt design comes, of course, from the NBA and its Phoenix Suns basketball franchise.
This ain't the first time that a designer has combined Star Wars with big league American sports, as evidenced by the Tusken Raiders design offered on the site a while back. However, today's shirt is the first one to mix together The Force and b-ball.
Does Steve Nash look like he comes from Anchorhead or more from Mos Eisley?

Which would be great, except their sizes only go up to 2XL, or, in my world "Geek Large". (XL being geek medium, of course). I'm not a little guy, and so I cannot partake of such offerings.
