There will be more Sex.
New Line Cinema confirmed what everyone knew would happen: there will be a second Sex in the City movie and it will star Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon. As well, the deal is done for Michael Patrick King to return as director and screenwriter for SitC2. The plan is to have the new movie out sometime in 2010, perhaps in the same summer slot that worked so well for the first movie last year.
King decided to use the announcement as an opportunity to get in this zinger: "I'm very excited to work with these amazing actresses again and would love to give everyone more information about the sequel ... but I'm busy with my Sex life."
Last year's Sex in the City opened to $52 million dollars and then went on to gross over $400 million worldwide, finally proving to Hollywood that there is a big market for a high heel chick flick.
