There's no way Green Lantern got in a fight with Black Widow

When Scarlett Johansson got cast as the Black Widow in Iron Man 2, sooner or later it was bound to happen that there would come a comic book related headline about her hubby also playing a superhero (the mercenary Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and whether the two decided to play their characters in their off-hours. Then Reynolds moved up to the A-list of comic book heroes by signing to play the title character in Warner Bros. Green Lantern movie, making their relationship now one of those opposites attract in a DC/Marvel kind of way.
Scarlett showed up for last weekend's Iron Man 2 panel but when Ry-Rey was a no-show at the Warner Bros. panel, people noticed and began to wonder what was up. Then in the days following the con a possible reason why Mr. Johansson wasn't there surfaced on the rumor mill: according to the gossip blog Fox411, Reynolds didn't go down to San Diego with his wife because the two had a major blow-up just before Comic-Con. Apparently the arguement was so big that Reynolds refused to attend the event with his wife, leaving her to make her appearance at the Iron Man 2 panel and he bailed from attending the Warner Bros. upcoming movies panel. "Ryan pulled out at the last minute and word spread fast. He isn’t making a show of good faith to the Warner team after they battled over the decision making him Green Lantern," said Fox411's source. "Scarlett ended up looking like the true professional and acted as if nothing was wrong, answering questions for fans and posing for pictures. It was not a good way for Ryan to begin his work as the star of the movie."
I have my doubts that Fox is right about their story. I have no way of knowing whether Reynolds may have had a verbal scrap with his wife or not, but let me tell you that there was no plans for Warner Bros. to plug their upcoming Green Lantern film at this year's Comic-Con. If Reynolds decided to pull out at the last minute his appearance would still have been mentioned the week before when Comic-Con announced their line-up of panels and presenters the week before. Nowhere in the write-up of the WB panel was there a mention of the Green Lantern movie. Furthermore, if there were secret plans to talk about the Green Lantern pic it's extremely likely Warner Bros. wouldn't rest all of the presentation of Ryan Reynolds' shoulders. Warners' didn't just trot out the stars of Jonah Hex, The Book of Eli and The Box to promote these films; they also brought the producers and the directors too. Why wouldn't Green Lantern helmer Martin Campbell also come down to talk about the movie? Furthermore, one of the movie's writers, Marc Guggenheim, appeared on a different panel so he could have easily sat in a chair if a Green Lantern movie panel were held. Add it all together and it just doesn't look like there was any thought to having a Green Lantern-centric panel at this year's Comic-Con so there really wasn't any professional reason for Reynolds to put on his power ring and hit the event.
For now, it looks like the only fights between Black Widow and Green Lantern we can speculate on remain in the minds of fanboys. I still think the Widow would wipe the floor with GL, power ring or not.
UPDATE!: A representative for the couple issued the following statement: "[The report] is completely untrue. Warner Brothers never planned to have Green Lantern as part of their panel at this year's Comic-Con and Ryan is in Europe shooting a film." At the risk of sounding like Nikki Finke, toldya so!
