Tintin lands Billy Elliot and 007
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Tuesday, January 27, 2009
Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell have joined the cast of The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, the 3-D motion capture movie that will be directed by Steven Spielberg. Bell will play the star of the film, Tintin himself, while the current James Bond actor will be Red Rackham, a villain.
This is a huge role for Bell to land. He first attracted the attention of the world playing the young Billy Elliot in the 2000 film of the same name. Bell also starred in Peter Jackson's 2005 remake of King Kong, which may have also added to him being hired to play Tintin since Jackson is a producer on the first Tintin movie and director of the second that`s being planned. Bell also co-starred with Craig in Defiance, now in theaters.
Bell and Craig join the previously announced Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Three other new faces to report are Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.
The movie is currently being filmed in Los Angeles and is targeted for a 2011 release.

Apparently Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish were just announced as co-writers of the film...along with the previously announced Steven (Dr. Who) Moffat.
I did a search for the actual Tintin page and got an error, so I'm not sure if this info is somewhere here already...
But here's the link (which also includes the full title)

This thing just shot up my radar...
