Trailer: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Tuesday, December 20, 2011

The trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey wasn't entirely unexpected. Ever since that image of Martin Freeman as a youthful Bilbo Baggins dropped on the web today, I've been anticipating the arrival of The Hobbit trailer. And now, the wait is indeed over.

From the director of that other fantasy movie trilogy (The Lord of the Onion Rings, or something like that), here's everyone's true first look at what Peter Jackson has been up to down in New Zealand these past 12 months:

Looks pretty neat.

Starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett and with cameo appearances by Elijah Wood and Ian Holm, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey arrives in theaters on December 14, 2012.

Now THIS is how you make a good trailer. Forget Dark Knight Rises, this is the best trailer of the week.  Of course we'll have to see if Prometheus will have a better trailer, but The Hobbit will be hard to beat, at least for me personally.
