Exclusive: Game of Thrones season 2 roundtable

Game of Thrones’s second season, based off of George R.R. Martin’s novel A Clash of Kings, is blissfully due to descend on us in just a few weeks’ time.  And though anticipation for the show’s return couldn’t be higher, there seems to be a growing undercurrent of tension or concern among both the fan and journalistic communities.  Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have changed the name of Asha Greyjoy, Theon’s sister back on the Iron Islands, to Yara?  The way-cool storyline the crippled Bran Stark has back at Winterfell might be cut and moved to the third season?  Daenerys Targaryen’s minimal presence in the novel might be dramatically expanded – with action scenes?

Fringe's first Friday wasn't fatal

The first episode of Fox's Fringe to air on Friday nights -- the legendary "death slot" of network television -- didn't succumb to the curse. Overnight results peg ratings for "The Firefly" at 4.9 million, giving Fox a fourth place win in the 9-10 PM timeslot.

Liam McIntyre takes over Spartacus: Blood and Sand

The tragedy of Starz's hit sword and sandal series Spartacus: Blood and Sand has been the illness of its star. Shortly before the series ended its first season, Andy Whitfield, the actor who plays the title character, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. As Whitfield underwent medical treatment to fight the disease, Starz was stuck with an unfortunate business decision: how to continue on with a new hit series but also leave the door open for its star to take the necessary time away to battle cancer?

Ricky Gervais serves a roast at the Golden Globes

This year I decided to not cover the Golden Globes because my heart just isn't into watching these shows. I'm the kind of guy that prefers reading a list of the winners after the shindig has gone down, though I can see the appeal of seeing the dresses and the celebrities glitz. It's just not my thing, y'know?

Gotham High: Batman begins at high school

In the nearly 16 years that I've been reporting behind closed door developments within Hollywood, I've been privy to some very interesting story concepts that have never seen the light of day. I've still got a handful that I have never spoke of (and perhaps one day I will), so when I heard about today's news story that there was once a proposal for an animated Batman TV show where Bruce Wayne and his rogues gallery of villains all went to the same Gotham high school, I wasn't too surprised.

Trailer: Falling Skies

TNT has finally released its first trailer for Falling Skies, its new sci-fi/action series set in the months following a devastating all-out alien invasion of Earth. Back in March I reviewed the pilot script for the project (which still hadn't found its title) and found it to be a gripping take on a worn out science fiction idea. The last time I was so enthusiastic about a script for a pilot TV series it was for The Walking Dead.
