Exclusive: Game of Thrones season 2 roundtable
Game of Thrones’s second season, based off of George R.R. Martin’s novel A Clash of Kings, is blissfully due to descend on us in just a few weeks’ time. And though anticipation for the show’s return couldn’t be higher, there seems to be a growing undercurrent of tension or concern among both the fan and journalistic communities. Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have changed the name of Asha Greyjoy, Theon’s sister back on the Iron Islands, to Yara? The way-cool storyline the crippled Bran Stark has back at Winterfell might be cut and moved to the third season? Daenerys Targaryen’s minimal presence in the novel might be dramatically expanded – with action scenes?

Gossip Girl spinoff time travels back to the 80s
The CW's Gossip Girl is in the process of getting a spinoff series but it won't be as straightforward as other similar kind of shows. Instead of simply taking a character from the first series and then making that person the centerpoint of a new show, this as-yet untitled GG spinoff will be set two decades in the past and show us several of the characters as they were in their formative teenage years.

Monsters, Aliens and Superbowl viewers
The Superbowl is now almost as well known for debuting new movie trailers as it is for being the year's biggest football event. Meet the new Doctor Who
26-year-old Matt Smith has been selected to become the eleventh incarnation -- and the youngest yet -- of the BBC's Time Lord in the fifth series of Doctor Who. Smith will take over control of the TARDIS from 37-year-old David Tennant who has played the character for three seasons and four upcoming one-hour specials to be broadcast throughout 2009.

66th Golden Globes gets a poster
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association Board of Directors has unveiled the poster for the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Designed by Los Angeles artist Colin McGreal in association with Famous Frames, the poster will be used as the centerpiece of the Globes publicity campaign towards awards night, January 11, 2009.

An American version of the BBC sci-fi series Dolls Hospital is in development at the cable channel Showtime. Called Syns, the idea explores a time in the near future when artificial human-like vessels can be grown and then used for dangerous or illicit purposes.

Fuller back on Heroes
After ABC made the decision to axe Pushing Daisies from its schedule, series creator Bryan Fuller suddenly had an opening in his schedule. Now comes word that Fuller is close to signing a two-year deal with Universal Media Studios that would see him develop shows for the peacock network in addition to returning to Heroes.

The Sci Fi Channel has given a go-ahead to make futher episodes of Caprica, the prequel series spun off from Battlestar Galactica. Variety reports that the cable channel is hoping to reassemble as much of the Galactica writing team as possible; since the final episodes of that series were filmed earlier this year, the scribes had scattered to find work on other shows. The idea is to have episodes of Caprica filming by the middle of 2009 for an anticipated debut on Sci Fi in early 2010.
