Could be timely, with the world economy in the toilet. Somebody like Gekko, now out of prison, could see opportunities.
Anyway, lunch is for wimps.....
The Hollywood Reporter states that Oliver Stone will direct the sequel to Wall Street. According to the trade magazine, Stone closed a deal that will see him behind the camera on the sequel to his 1987 movie that won Michael Douglas a Best Actor Oscar.
Originally called Money Never Sleeps, THR now adds that the project is being refered to as Wall Street 2. The script was penned by Stanley Weiser, who co-wrote the original film with Stone, and the project is getting a rewrite by 21 and The Baster screenwriter Alan Loeb. It's believed Michael Douglas is all but officially signed to reprise his role as the predatory businessman Gordon Gekko in a story that will see the character rise from the ashes of bankruptcy and disgrace to the top of the financial world again.
Following closely on the Reporter story was a Twitter update by Production Weekly which stated that Transformers star Shia LaBeouf is in talks to join the cast of the sequel.
