Our readers in the United Kingdom and Europe are already familiar with the ITV sci-fi series Primeval. The hour-long show follows a team of scientists that try to track down and capture dangerous animals that come through wormholes in time to our era. In addition to dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts that arrive in present day there are also wormholes connecting to the far future, allowing the creatures of that era to travel and munch on humans. The show has also started being broadcast on BBC America and the Sci Fi Channel.
Warner Bros. sees feature potential in Primeval and has bought the rights to make a movie from the owners of the property. Screenwriter/producer Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster are making the picture via Goldsman's Weed Road production house and will shortly hire a screenwriter to adapt the show into a stand-alone film. The American producers envision their movie to be similar to another well known film franchise that uses extinct creatures, using a frame of reference. "There is a solid mythology to the series, but the movie has the dinosaur element of Jurassic Park and the time travel element of Lost, and it just feels like the kind of big movie that Warner Bros. does well," Foster told Variety.
The U.K. Primeval is centered around London while the American movie will have the action take place in the States.

The only reason to watch Primeval is because you get to see Hannah Spearitt wandering around in her underwear at tea time on a Saturday. Bonus !!!
