Warner Bros. has bought a pitch for a futuristic retelling of the Biblical tale of Samson and Delilah reports trade magazine Variety. To be written by Scott Silver (8 Mile) and produced by Erwin Stoff (The Day the Earth Stood Still), the movie will be directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine). The movie will be known by the title Samson.
Warners emerged as the owner of the idea after winning a three way bidding battle. Unfortunately Variety's coverage of the story didn't reveal what new twist Silver's take on the ages-old story is. In the Bible the story goes that Samson was a man of tremendous strength due to never cutting his hair. He is beguiled by the beauty Delilah into revealing the source of his might and when Samson is asleep one night she cuts his hair, robbing him of his ability. I'm not sure how you get to the future from there.

Usually you get to the future via time machine but in this case I think they should look at the alternate ending to Army of Darkness, because Bruce sported some REALLY long rumplestiltskin hair and beard when he awoke from that cave!
