What gets the rest of the characters in the Star Wars universe a-Twitter?
Posted by Den Shewman on Friday, May 6, 2011
“An Ordinary Universe” features tweets from the little people in the Star Wars mythos who didn’t have movies made about them. You know, like you and me.
Ever wonder everyone else in the George Lucas’ Star Wars universe is thinking about? Sure, we know well what Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Old Ben Kenobi, Yoda, even Darth Vader and Chewie thought about their little lightsaber and X-wing tête-a-têtes. That’s old hat.
But what about Stormtrooper #327? That woman in the background of the crowd at Cloud City? That alien in the cantina who never had a name until after Star Wars’s release when George realized he had to merchandise every last Rick Baker creation, and they started churning out names and facts for the action figures? (We’ll ignore the Ewoks, as we always do.)
Welcome to “An Ordinary Universe”.
Continuing in the vein of our momentous Star Wars news week (okay, maybe this isn’t quite as big as that other announcement), Thrillist points us to the former Simpsons/Futurama animator who created the Horrible Movie Night blog and who has started tweeting from a galaxy far, far away. From the sublime (“Tough day at the cantina. One murder, one maiming. Sigh -- someday I'll retire to Alderaan. They're peaceful, and they have no weapons.”) to the base (“TK 880 was telling us about helping capture an Alderaan senator this morning. Totally wasn't wearing a bra. Wish I'd seen that.”) to a Twitpic a rebel pilot might have sent home to Mom (see above), “An Ordinary Universe” feeds us the thoughts of the little people who make the Death Star hum and keep the sarlacc feed while Jabba’s away. It’s like Red vs. Blue in 140 characters.

Now if he can only tweet Luke’s tauntaun’s dying words…
