He's starred in the highest grossing movie of all-time. Naturally he's going to be getting more work. Sam Worthington is his name and he's just set himself up a new project, to star in a drama-mystery called The Texas Killing Fields.
Based on a true story, Worthington will play one of a pair of police officers that spent two decades trying to find out who was the murderer behind dozens of unsolved homicides in the Gulf Coast. The pic is slated to be directed by Ami Canaan Mann, daughter of Public Enemies helmer Michael Mann, from a screenplay by Donald F. Ferrarone. Filming is scheduled to start in April. The senior Mann will also serve as one of the movie's producers.
While Variety is running their story today, the first mention of Worthington being attached to star in Texas Killing Fields actually surfaced last November, well before Avatar cemented the Aussie actor's name as potential A-list. The Pajiba website got the tip from one of their sources who, at the time, also said that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) was attached to play the other cop. Hey, at least Variety is mentioning where the break originally came from.
