Writers selected for 23rd James Bond movie
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Friday, June 12, 2009
For the next James Bond adventure there will be new and old blood working on the story. Today EON Productions and MGM announced the writers for Bond 23, as the project is being refered to right now. The scribes are Peter Morgan (the new blood), a twice Oscar-nominated screenwriter whose credits include Frost/Nixon, The Queen and The Last King of Scotland; and Robert Wade and Neal Purvis (the old blood), the veteran writing duo who have been working on the 007 franchise since The World is Not Enough.
"Peter, Neal and Robert are extraordinarily talented and we're looking forward to working with the three of them," said Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
Writing has not commenced on Bond 23 just yet as Morgan is finishing up an assignment working on Hereafter, a Clint Eastwood film in development. Wade and Purvis just turned in a draft of The Mission Song, based on the John Le Carre spy novel of the same name. What today's announcement means is that the road is now clear for the next Bond movie's storyline to start being developed. We're still at least two years away before seeing Daniel Craig suiting up in his third 007 mission.
