A massive multiplayer online game based on Syfy's reimagined Battlestar Galactica series is in development and slated for a fall release. To be released by German-based Bigpoint and under development by Arplant, a Norway-based company, Battlestar Galactica Online will recreate the premise of the critically acclaimed sci-fi drama and let players choose between playing the last remnants of humanity or their destroyers, the mechanical Cylons.
The game is being developed using Unity technology, allowing the players to get in on the action without having to download a client. Instead, you'll be able to play BGO through your browser. The developers promise that Battlestar Galactica Online will be able to produce real-time 3D graphics and dynamic gameplay. Bigpoint is working closely with Universal Studios to acquire property assets from the TV show and include models and sound effects familiar to its fans. The company is claiming that the game will be "a blend of tactical space combat, exploration, and mission-based gameplay," and that "dramatic missions will define the game's overall storyline, enabling the player to delve into mysteries of the Battlestar universe."
"Cooperation between Bigpoint and NBC Universal is a very important strategic step for us," said Heiko Hubertz, CEO and founder of Bigpoint. "Battlestar Galactica has a huge and passionate fan base. We are proud to be able to publish such an internationally famous title as one of our online games. For the first time ever, we're relying completely on Unity in order to offer our users fantastic game graphics right in their browsers."

Sounds like fun, but I am a little confused as to how they will make a MMORPG type experience work around a storyline involving one "hero" spaceship.
