Today Toy Story 3 earned its first ten figure dollar bill, pushing the worldwide take of the film to one billion dollars. The watermark isn't just significant for Disney and Pixar because the movie is now the animation house's highest grossing Pixar film ever but that Toy Story 3 is the second movie released by Disney in 2010 to earn $1 billion at the box office.

Alice in Wonderland was the first movie to cross the billion dollar box office mark for the studio this year. With Toy Story 3 and Alice, Disney has become the first movie studio in history to have two films earn $1 billion theatrically. Just four years ago in 2006, Disney was also the first movie studio to have a movie earn one billion dollars, that being for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

"It's been an incredible year as we saw the Pixar team bring Buzz and Woody back to the big screen and watched Tim Burton's vision for Alice in Wonderland take the world by storm," said Rich Ross, the chairman for Walt Disney Studios.  "These box office triumphs prove that creative storytelling brought to life by imaginative, inspired and talented professionals is something audiences respond to the world over."

Toy Story 3 now currently stands at the seventh highest grossing movie globally ever with $592.9 million internationally and $404.6 million from North American theaters. Alice in Wonderland landed $1.0243 worldwide.
