The Jonah Hex movie has the distinction of being one of the big financial losers of the summer of 2010. Made on a reported budget of somewhere between $50 to 70 million dollars and plagued with reshoots and creative trouble before its release, Jonah only managed to rustle up $10.5 million dollars from its domestic run. Overseas, the movie played even worse, in fact it bypassed cinemas and is headed straight for video. Oh, Jonah, what's a melted face gunslinger to do?
Warner Home Video is giving us a second chance to discover Jonah Hex by releasing it on DVD and Blu-ray next month, October 12. If you were hoping for a commentary track by director Jimmy Hayward about what really happened when he was replaced by I Am Legend's Francis Lawrence, no such luck. In fact, there's no audio commentary included with the Jonah Hex DVD, which is a statement itself.
What does come with the Hex disc are some deleted scenes, maybe in the half-hearted effort to show you that there were worse moments that the filmmakers decided to spare you from. On the Blu-ray edition of the film there will also be two featurettes (""The Inside Story of Jonah Hex", "The Weird Western Tales of Jonah Hex") and a digital copy of the film so you can forever preserve it on your computer's memory.
Jonah Hex will cost you $28.98 on DVD and $35.98 on Blu-ray. At least, that will be the financial cost upon you.

I love how on the dvd cover, the scarred side of his face is in shadow so you can't even see it.
