A sneak look at Green Lantern's Parallax
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Monday, November 22, 2010
The Daily Blam! website posted a leaked image of the Parallax entity we'll see in the Green Lantern movie. If you're not familiar with the comic book's continuity, Parallax is an evil creature spawned at the start of time. It's yellow and connected to the emotional spectrum of colors that supposedly power all living beings in the DC universe. The Green Lanterns draw their energy from the green part of the emotional spectrum (which represents willpower). This is why in the Green Lantern comics yellow is an impurity with the green energy, and why the rings of most Green Lanterns won't work on things that are yellow in color.
With Parallax being a villain in the upcoming Green Lantern movie, it sets the stage for ideas from the GL comic book that can be explored in the sequels, such as other colors and how different emotions can be harnessed to create new Lantern corps. Green Lantern writer Geoff Johns created the emotional spectrum and has now populated the GL comic book with beings from the Blue Lantern Corps, Sinestro Corps (powered by the color of fear, yellow), Red Lanterns, Orange Lanterns, Indigo Lanterns and Star Sapphires (who draw their power from the emotion of love, represented by purple.)
The Daily Blam! claims to have scanned their image of the movie Parallax from an upcoming issue of Green Lantern, #61 which is not yet on sale.
