With his new role as the enforcer of the Marvel Comics universe set to please audiences when Punisher: War Zone opens this Friday, Ray Stevenson is solidifying his movie career in his post-Rome world.

The Irish-born actor is the latest addition to the growing cast of The Book of Eli, Warner Bros. post-apocalyptic science fiction/actioner that begins filming in February. Stevenson will play an assassin sent out to eliminate Denzel Washington's Eli from spreading the word about a book the hero carries with him.Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight) and Mila Kunis (That 70s Show) also star in the film. The brotherly duo of Albert and Allan Hughes (From Hell) direct the picture while Joel Silver (the Matrix trilogy) produces. The film is currently slated for release on Janaury 15, 2010.
