Choose between Bats or Jokes in Gotham City Imposters
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Friday, August 12, 2011
Producing fun superhero games is a harder task than most gamers realize. When a title like Arkham Asylum comes along and rocks, fans get their hopes up that superhero video games have evolved. But for every Arkham Asylum, there's a dozen meh releases like Green Lantern, Thor or Captain America.
Judging how fun the Batman spinoff game Gotham City Imposters will be from a couple of trailers is a dangerous thing to do. Still, the gameplay gives off a Team Fortress 2 vibe to it, and for a Batman game, that different approach may be just the right ingredient to open the window and blow out the stale air for superhero games.
In Gotham City Imposters, you choose between being on the side of the law (a member of the Bats) or crime (the Jokes). After customizing your character you then go out and try and stop the other side's players. See, I wasn't kidding around when I said that this felt like it was following in the footsteps of Team Fortress 2.
A new trailer was just released showing off some of the customization that you will be able to do when GCI gets released on Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network and PC early in 2012. I'd like to see more of the environments, different classes and weapons, but from what's being teased, I like the zany, mature approach to the action.
The first trailer presents the general concept of Gotham City Imposters while the second shows off the customization angle. Learn more about the game at the official website, www.gothamcityimposters.com.

Looks hilarious! This has my vote as the seed for BATMAN 4!
