We have found the new host for the 2012 Academy Awards and it's Billy Crystal. New Oscar producer Brian Grazer must have ran into the Kodak Theater, broken the glass box containing Billy that read "IN CASE OF EMERGENCY" and all is well again in Hollywood.
This brings an end to the worry and wondering in the wake of Eddie Murphy changing his mind about hosting the 84th annual Academy Awards. Murphy's friend and former Oscar producer Brett Ratner resigned from putting together the broadcast after he made a gay slur for an interview for Tower Heist, his latest movie. Murphy chose to step back and not host to show solidarity for his pal.
"Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show," Crystal said via his Twitter feed early this afternoon. That was the first mention of the annoucement.
This will be the ninth time that Billy Crystal has hosted the Oscars. The televised event will be beamed worldwide on February 26, 2012.
