While he's off making Pacific Rim and directing giant monsters and robots beating the hell out of each other, director Guillermo del Toro has casually lined up his next possible project. Beast is the Hellboy's helmer interpretation of the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast, done with what will be (I'm certain) an imaginative visual twist.

In contract negotiations to play the beauty in the film is Harry Potter star Emma Watson. Will she sport her pixie short hairdo in the film or grow it out to complement the hairy beast?

Del Toro had been originally attached to the Warner Bros. Beast production. He'll write a treatment for the film's storyline which will then be developed by Bridget Jones's Diary screenwriter Andrew Davies.

Also producing is Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan, along with del Toro.

Hopefully del Toro's Beast film will perform better at the box office than the recent Beastly film. That Alex Pettyfur/Vanessa Hudgens movie grossed a timid $27 million dollars last year.
