I'm guessing Emily Blunt has been ruing her decision to go with Gulliver's Travels over being the Black Widow. I'm cool with her being Ms. Marvel.

Are Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson being scouted for Ms. Marvel in The Avengers 2?

It's no secret that Marvel Studios and director Joss Whedon are hard at work planning out the storyline for what happens in The Avengers 2. May 2015 seems like it's far away right now but when you break it down Whedon and his crew only have 12 or so months to iron out the movie sequel's story, figure out how these characters integrate into all their own individual movie franchises and pick which new Marvel superheroes (and villains) will be included in Avengers 2.
And there's also a S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series to launch.
So right now is the perfect time to dreamcast actors that they would like to see playing the big screen versions of Marvel superheroes, then find out which people would be interested in signing up to join the battle and stand alongside Thor, Captain America and the Hulk.
Over the course of the weekend two actresses were mentioned in the celebrity gossip column of The Daily Mail as being contenders for a new Avengers heroine named Ms. Marvel. Comic book fans will know of the character, a blonde fighter pilot who received the powers of flight, invulnerability and super strength from her encounter with an alien from the Kree Empire. Ms. Marvel has been spotted throughout the Marvel universe since 1968, mostly associated with The Avengers but also sometimes in the line-up of the Starjammers, a space-based group of superheroes. Most recently the character was rebranded to be Captain Marvel, most likely to piggyback on the publisher's brand name.
If the report is accurate, this isn't the first time that Blunt has been called upon to join the Marvel heroes. Three years ago she was the top candidate to play the Black Widow in Iron Man 2, but when 20th Century Fox needed the 29-year-old English actress to star in their Gulliver's Travels comedy with Jack Black, she had to vacate the Widow role. Scarlett Johansson eventually got the job, and played the heroine in The Avengers movie too.
So if you put 2 and 2 together, it's extremely possible that Blunt's name came up to play Ms. Marvel in The Avengers 2 because the studio's president, Kevin Feige, already knew her.
And it also makes sense that if any new superhero character will be introduced in The Avengers 2, it will be a female character to give Black Widow a little less testosterone to deal with.
Ruth Wilson is best known for starring in the English TV series Luther opposite Idris Elba and the most recent adaptation of Jane Eyre. It's interesting to note that both Blunt and Wilson are English actresses, which may turn out to be just a coincidence (Ms. Marvel is American.)
No one associated with The Avengers 2 movie has made any confirmation of any actors being considered for roles in the sequel, or even whether any new heroes would be introduced in the next film.

Makes sense, Captain Marvel is predominately featured in the Avengers cartoon running now.
