I don't get to watch many cartoons outside of Spongebob, Flapjack, and Phineas and Ferb, but every once in a while, I get to see Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Holy crap is it HILARIOUS!

It's such a shame we're so uptight here about stuff like that. Just think of all the naughty commercials we could come up with!

I went on a class trip to Europe once in high school. One of my classmates said he saw a late night commercial in France with a naked woman selling orange soda one night. Maybe he was full of crap, but I would like to think it's true.

Guess what? I got a fever. And the only prescription . . . is more cowbell!

Oh, of course.....! I just like being that much more removed from that mishap, though.

I might have the swine flu. Sweet Christ.

Last night I went out with Mobile Loaves & Fishes (a van service that takes hot meals to the homeless) to finish my credit hours for a class on nonprofits. My professor brought her adorable son, who recently had the swine flu. Today I have a splitting migraine when I normally only get cluster headaches once or twice a year, I'm coughing, I can hardly breathe, and I keep having hot and cold flashes. I haven't been hungry since yesterday. Dr. Batt says these are the exact same symptoms she had right before she got H1N1.

I have like three papers due next week! This is not a good time for me, swine flu!

My only solace is the knowledge that my roommates, who have been dicks lately and never clean, will probably get it too. I might go cough on their toothbrushes just to be sure.

I like your style!!!

Swine flu is a b*tch. I had an outbreak in my team earlier in the year. Keep a bucket by the toilet as eruptions from both ends simultaneously can be a problem. Sip lots of water and accept ibuprofen is your friend.

FUCK. I'm running a fever. I totally have the goddamned swine flu. Thank God it's the weekend -- I can't afford to miss any more classes. In the next few days, I have to come up with a forty-minute presentation on "paths through college," for which I have no actual direction; write an academic lit review; write a paper on female counterfeiters in early modern England which is worth 60% of my grade; and write a feature or an op-ed for FrontSteps, an Austin nonprofit.

I never get sick at convenient times. Why don't I ever get sick in, like, the five-week period between semesters? That would be the perfect time to be sick.

Is "Victim of Global Pandemic" not a good enough reason for a small extension ? Surely the Uni must be prepared for this kind of thing. Definitely see your GP, or at least speak to them.

I usually think this way until I actually do get sick at one of the convenient times, then I wind up saying, "Oh, great! I finally get a break, and now I'm too sick to enjoy it!"

Wow I watched that and didn't realize it was NPH. Good job by him. Still can't get around Diedrich Bader being Batman, I keep seeing him as Oswald from the Drew Carey show.

He was Warp Darkmatter in the Buzz Lightyear cartoon, too.
He's actually a perfect fit at Batman for the tone of the show. It's a lot of fun, and my son absolutely loves it.

When I took my temperature this morning I was a perfect 98.6, but now it's steadily climbing again and I just hit 100. I'm still a far cry from the 102.8 I was yesterday, but still, what the hell? Is this a thing that happens?

Fuck you, fever, fuck youuuu. I can feel my brain shutting down again, too, which is manifesting itself as a switch from the White Album to the Glee soundtrack and probably to the pop country station in the next few minutes. This is going to make my presentation interesting.

Speaking of which, did you all know that for every 100 BAs earned by men, 133 are earned by women? In the last few years even the majority of doctorate degrees are being claimed by women. There's still a split along subject lines -- women earn the vast majority of advanced degrees in the humanities and men in the sciences -- but the science/math gap is actually closing rapidly, and in early education, there's no real grade discrepancy between boys and girls in math, though boys still do better on standardized tests.

I think something like seventy percent of the German doctoral program's graduate students are female. Of the males in the program, more than half are homosexual. What does that mean? I don't know what that means.

If it means anything, it means that, were a straight guy in the department to go looking for interdepartmental love, he would have more options than most--even considering the relatively high frequency of homosexual females (at least in comparison to the supposed "national average") in the department.

But they recommend against interdepartmental love.
