Return Of The Jedi

It's on TV right now. It really does seem weak after Empire, which was on last week.

Yeah, but it's easier than saying "I eat mostly vegetarian food items, except for a few items that wouldn't be considered vegetarian."

"I'm an omnivore" also works. So does "I try not to eat too much meat."

I feel like people who tell me "I'm pretty much a vegetarian--except, you know, I have a little fish or chicken on occasion" are fishing for congratulations for a half commitment.

"I recycle, you know. Well, everything but plastics and paper. And sometimes I don't wash out the soup cans, so that means they probably don't get recycled either when that happens. But usually I remember to wash them out."

"I'm a firm supporter of mom-and-pop stores. I still do most of my shopping at either Wal-Mart or Target--because, duh, they're closer and cheaper--but every now and then I'll buy a Coke at Tommy's Corner Shoppe. Just one, though, 'cause that motherfucker charges $1.85 for a twelve-ouncer."

"Sometimes I give a quarter to a homeless man. Granted, I only do this when my bladder is empty and I just want him to leave me alone and stop reminding me how I'm not utterly destitute like he is. When the bladder ain't empty, though... hoo boy. That's when I kick him in the dick and piss all over him. There's nothing like dumping a bladder full of urine on a homeless man. Sometimes I even plan it. I'll eat asparagus for weeks, and I'll make myself physically ill by holding in the piss for a couple days. Then, BOOM!"

The homeless man, on the other hand, only gets piss because you don't like him.

The site that put up the Steve Seeley artwork also uploaded some scans from a 1980 magazine article that was trying to predict the plot of the Star Wars movies beyond The Empire Strikes Back.

What I don't quite understand is why the author of the article assumes that Darth Vader is not Luke's father. Obviously, he has seen Empire, but for some reason he still treats Anakin and Vader as separate characters because he has this theory about Vader being a clone of Luke's father. It's almost like he's in denial and is trying to find all these reasons that would mean Vader isn't directly related to Luke. Overall, it's pretty amusing to read some of his predictions. Most of them are so far off the mark that they seem funny now, but in some cases I can see how he would have reached the conclusions he did.

I remember reading a magazine story of how they invisioned a possible sequel to ANH. It involved Darth Vader stowing aboard the Millennium Falcon, and at the end he fought a newly formed Obi Wan Kenobi, and this time truly killed him. Also, Han went off to some other planet and died (I think).

Sometimes villains claim to be heroes' fathers to fuck with their heads. Sabertooth did this to Wolverine a bunch.

The whole Sabertooth/Wolverine blood relationship thing is murky water. I think Claremont meant for Sabertooth to be Wolvie's dad, and may have even made it explicit at one point. Subsequent writers have retconned the hell out if it.

In the movie series continuity, they're half brothers.

In Star Wars 7 a pissed off Imperial admiral goes back in time just before the events of ANH and alters the course of history, thus creating a new timeline of events and new paths for all characters involved. ...

You shut your filthy whore mouth, Hicks!

Oh, God. It's a distinct fuckin' possibility.

So far, there's been no time travel in canonical cinematic Star Wars.

So far.

On the other hand, I suppose light speed travel is something like time travel.

Would you still feel the same if this admiral changed the course of the prequels' history as well?

No, I read somewhere that EU crap will not be included in the new Trilogy. Time travel is the only answer. How else will they be able to cast the Walking Dead guy as Hans Solo and Johnathan Brandis as Luke?  Oops!

Goits is right, time travel isn't a Star Wars-y thing, so it will have to be a clone of the Emperor that goes back in time, ya know to bridge the gap.
