Revolution

Posted by Daltons chin dimple on Tuesday, April 23, 2013

Got five episodes queued up on the Sky+ box. Just not sure i can be bothered with more JJ / Lost mystery box shenanigans or a multi-year, multi-season commitment.

Is it worth it? Should I start or is it not all that?

When Dalty read the post just above this one, he thought about saying something about how a "lame" pun would have been fitting, since I was talking about a cat limping.

Now he's debating whether or not he should post "The Limping Cats would be a good name for a band!"

New plan: I will not send video to Dalty of me doing The Dance of a Thousand Goiters.

I will, however, send video of me reading your previous five posts. I'll even do them in the southern drawl that I imagine you to have.

Somewhere in those five posts, you also answered the question as to why I would not just send the video to both addresses. For all I know, the non-Dalty of the two may be an internet whiz who would spread my dance around the world and/or England, whereas real-Dalty will struggle to figure out how to login to his email to download the video.

At some point in the next four days, I shall perform the ceremonial Dance Dance Revolution Of A Thousand Goiters. It will be video recorded and emailed across the pond to Dalty, in hopes it will lift his spirits after deleting that show from his thing, or in hopes that it will end drought somewhere.

And to think you could have watched Raiders of the Lost Ark instead...

Unfortunately, I have a pretty clean American accent. The military had beaten the southern out of it by the time I was four.

I had a thick southern accent when I was three. It was a strange hybrid of an Alabama accent (from my mother), a Georgia accent (from my stepfather), and a South Carolina accent (where we lived until I was almost four).

The southern began to fade from my accent almost immediately after we moved to Germany. That was toward the end of my third year. We were there until a month or two before my eighth birthday. When we moved back to Alabama, there was no trace left of a southern accent. All the Alabama kids told me I talked "funny." (Apparently, they couldn't hear themselves.)

To this day, I can't do a convincing southern accent. I can fake it well enough if I'm speaking to someone not from the south, but if I'm trying to fake a southern accent around a bona fide southerner, he will call me out and ask me if I'm making fun of him.

It's the one with an 'I' in it.  And a yahoo in there too.

The printer at work is out of toner. 90% of my job is billing patients/printing shit to send to insurance companies.

I now have a long afternoon ahead of me. I will spend the time plotting out the video I shall finally record for Dalty tonight. After I've watched a few more episodes of Revolution, natch. Y'all are welcome to amuse me for the next 3 hours or so, if you'd be so kind please.

I have downloaded the series so far, Muddyfunsters!

I will not watch it until Adam's video arrives.  I shall take that as a signal.

I'm guessing it's just low on toner, not out completely. Have you shaken it? If you haven't, you can usually get a few more days out of it. But being the printer/toner guru you are, you already know that.

Printer toners must contain minerals mined from the heart of a distant star.  Only explanation for the price.

Heh. It's been giving me the "Danger! Danger! Low toner!" blinking light for maybe 2-3 weeks now. My boss is currently aggravated with herself for not listening to me and buying one to have on hand weeks ago when I first told her about it. I'm not as much of a guru as I make myself out to be. Do you think that following the warning lights I could still shake it out and perhaps survive til the new stuff gets here tomorrow?

Go ahead and shake it, but don't let anyone know you've shaken it. If they know you know how to address low toner issues, they'll start expecting you to know how to do all sorts of shit.

Yep, shake it and you'll get some extra life out of it. Also, always have a back-up toner sitting around. When you use one up, order a new toner cartrdige which will become your new back-up. It's the first rule of essential office supplies.

BTW, when you shake it, shake it side to side. Also don't shake it over anything, because some toner dust might come out. Shaking it over a trash bin would be best.

I'll try that and report back shortly.

We ordered two new black toners today, plus replacements for all the remaining colors, just to have on hand. Would've been done a week ago but I don't have the credit card and my boss has been busy moving to a new house and whatnot.

You'd think he'd have already shaken it. Tsk tsk, Adam. 90% of your job, huh?

Even if you run out completely, you can always crush a mixture of pencil lead and black ash (avoid the white and gray) into a super-fine pulver and dump it into the cartridge. That'll buy you a few weeks. It'll probably also destroy your printer, so don't do it unless you're gunning for a new printer.

This is Office Equipment Sabotage 101, really.

Nope. Shook it. Nothing came out. I guess I didn't think to shake it since the light had been blinking at me for weeks and I just assumed it had finally blinked it's last blink.

Well at least you have the other 10% of your job to keep you occupied until tomorrow.

 Exactly.

Relatedly, for...oh...10-12 years now, I'd never understood how or why so many of you posted so often from work. This is the first job where I've had the ability to do so and completely understand now. Y'all have been a great help at passing the time. Keep up the solid work.
