April 10, 2012 - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 / Peter's parents will be in multiple movies

The origin of Peter Parker's evolution into becoming Spider-Man will "unfold" over the sequels to come. That's what Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb told MTV News about his plans for future Spidey films.

"I wanted to give the audience something new, so that started off with getting underneath the parents' story, which will unfold over probably a few movies," Webb said. "We don't totally wrap up that story in this first movie. It's sort of an ongoing mystery. That was something that was interesting to me."

However, not everything about the origin of Spider-Man will be departing from the norn. Webb also said that there will be specific elements from the comic books and past movies that will play out the same in future ASM films, "obligations to the canon, in terms of Uncle Ben and the spider-bite, but the conditions under which those things happen are very different."
