April 13, 2000 - Wonder Woman / Julie Strain lobbies for the role
Scooped on Sunday, July 11, 2010
Can you imagine Penthouse Pet and Heavy Metal 2000 star Julie Strain as Wonder Woman? She can -- and so can a lot of guys.
"Last night at 8pm on Yahoo! Chat and sponsored by BigStar.com, B-Movie queen Julie Strain was the special guest for an hour long Q & A session with online chatters, of which I took part. At 6'1", I don't think anyone can argue that Ms. Strain would be one of the best choices to play Wonder Woman in the upcoming Joel Silver production (despite the fact she is 38) and it's unfortunate that the frontrunner at this point seems to be Sandra Bullock. During last night's chat, I was fortunate enough to have Julie answer my question which was as follows:
'Have you ever been approached to play Wonder Woman in the upcoming film? As you may know, Sandra Bullock is the frontrunner, which is a ridiculous choice.'
Julie's response was:
"I auditioned for that
Wonder Woman movie and I know I'm the best Wonder Woman, but I found out that Sandra Bullock is playing that part."It's ridiculous - - you want to see someone with long legs in that part.
"But I'm the Wonder Woman Year 2000; I know it and everyone else knows it.
"I'll wear stars and stripes and a g-string to the movie premiere, and I'll show everyone who the real Wonder Woman is."
"So, at least we know she had an opportunity to audition and I wouldn't necessarily say she is out of the running because despite her statement about Sandra Bullock getting the part, I don't think that has been confirmed. I don't think it's official yet. Perhaps Julie didn't get the part because of her age, which is 38, but last night she had no qualms about saying that she still looks 25, and there's really no argument there. Thank you."
