August 13, 2009 - Poltergeist / November 2010 release date announced

Shock Till You Drop has uncovered that MGM wants to release its remake of Poltergeist on November 24, 2010. That's the Thanksgiving long weekend and the official kick-off of the holiday box office season. If MGM in intent on making that release date we should expect to hear casting annoucements in the next month or two.

 Is it safe to assume you meant Nov 2011? Because if they start casting in a month or two, they'll miss Thanksgiving 2010 by  a good deal....

There's no mystery really. MGM did originally announce a November 2010 release for their POLTERGEIST remake. That tentative date was mentioned in late summer 2009. Obviously, with the financial mess that MGM is in, the POLTERGEIST remake production never got any further than landing its director.

As November 2010 approached I saw that the remake was still listed on CA with a 11/2010 release. When I removed that date and put the movie into development hell, I updated the database listing for the movie.

No matter where you go, there you are.
