August 29, 2009 - Swamp Thing / Joel Silver talks about producing the movie

The Collider website spoke with Joel Silver at the Whiteout press junket where the producer revealed that he was also working on a new Swamp Thing feature film. "I'm developing a picture now that I'd like to do…I'll hopefully do Swamp Thing, which is a movie we’ve had for a long time. We think that would be great to do in 3D. There are a couple of projects I'm thinking about (for the format) but not everything." Silver didn't elaborate how far along the project was or if a writer was working on story concepts or a screenplay.

Swamp Thing was first turned into a film back in 1982. That version was directed by Wes Craven and starred Dick Durock underneath the Swamp Thing suit. It chose to drop the comic book's horror elements in favor of making the screen story more straightforward action. A sequel followed in 1989 was was poorly received.
