February 2, 2009 - B.P.R.D. / project rumored

Scooped on Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Guillermo del Toro may be too busy with directing The Hobbit to focus on crafting a third Hellboy movie but he's open to someone else playing with the other players inhabiting Mike Mignola's universe. In an interview with MTV's Splash Page del Toro says that he is alright with another director making a B.P.R.D. spinoff movie and using Hellboy's supporting cast, like pyrokinetic Liz Sherman, aquatic psychic Abe Sapien, ectoplasmic psychic Johan Kraus, Roger the Homunculus and soldier/were-jaguar Ben Daimio.

Now before you get your hopes raised too high, bear in mind that there is no evidence that the project is in development yet or even if Universal Pictures, who now owns the movie rights to the Hellboy franchise, is even interested in making a B.P.R.D. flick. But hey, while we're twiddling our thumbs these next four or five years waiting for del Toro to finish his trip to Middle-earth, maybe someone at Uni wants to call a meeting or two to discuss the idea?
