The first photo showing Captain America's "sidekick" Bucky Barnes has been revealed. In the image we see Sebastian Stan playing Cap's wartime pal walking alongside the hero as troops gather to see the famous duo. In the comic book series Bucky was still a teenager, about 16-years-old, when he battled the Axis forces in combat during World War 2. In the movie we'll see an older Bucky, one that's the same age as Cap. Directo Joe Johnson explained the reason for the change to The Los Angeles Times:

"In the comics, he’s like Robin is to Batman," Johnston said, "but this is not that at all [in our film.] Our Bucky isn't a sidekick and there’s a darker edge. This is a much more interesting relationship."

The director also talked about what Sebastian stan brought to the role. "You know, he was originally up for the lead, for the Steve Rogers role, but he didn’t have quite the same earnest, I-want-to-fight-for-my-country aura that Chris has for this role. Sebastian has a little bit of the bad boy, he’s a little bit of the James Dean type and that goes somewhat counter to the general perception of Steve Rogers. He wasn’t quite right for Captain America,  but I think he’s perfect for Bucky because, really, he can have a little bit of that dark side."
