January 19, 2011 - Spider-Man / no J. Jonah Jameson in this Spidey movie

Scooped on Wednesday, January 19, 2011

There will be no appearance by cranky Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson in the 2012 Spider-Man movie, reports IGN. Jameson's newspaper will have a presence in the film, at least in the background as Daily Bugle newstrucks have been photographed on the streets of NYC while the production is filming.

That sucks. But I suppose it'd be tough to top JK Simmons in Raimi's version. Plus an origin story wouldn't really need JJ. He'd seem more likely to be a presence once Spider-man's been on the scene for awhile, aka in sequels. Pete wouldn't even need to get the photog job right away as they couldn concentrate on his life as a high school student.
