June 23, 2009 - Go Mutants! / project announced

Scooped on Saturday, June 27, 2009

Universal Pictures has bought the film rights to Go Mutants!, author Larry Doyle's next novel. Set to be published by HarperCollins in the summer of 2010, the book supposes that cinema's cosmic and terrestrial threats from the 1950s were real and that the grandkids of the alien invaders and mutants have now completely assimilated into suburban life and are going to ordinary high school. Doyle, who will adapt his book into a screenplay for the studio and Imagine Entertainment, imagines that there's potential for cameos from some of the more famous beings to make appearances like The Creature From the Black Lagoon or Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Imagine's Brian Grazer will produce while the company's David Bernardi and William Horberg will executive produce. [Full story]
