March 23, 2009 - Knowing / Roger Ebert on film's low rating scores
Scooped on Monday, March 23, 2009
On his blog film critic Roger Ebert discusses his confusion over the low ratings being given to Knowing, a film that he gave four stars to in his review. Ebert talks about possible elements that may have turned off other critics, from the Biblical allegories in Knowing's story to the film's resolution and who the mysterious beings were to a perceived wave of fan dislike for Nicolas Cage. "I find him an intriguing actor because he takes chances," explains the seasoned film critic. "He's an actor without speed limits. You want an Elvis who parachutes into Vegas? A weatherman whose viewers throw fast food at him? An explorer of the national treasures buried far beneath Washington? He's your go-to guy."
For those out there who disliked Knowing and are interested in hearing a different opinion on the film, Ebert's essay makes for an interesting read.
