May 27, 2009 - Iron Man 2 / Edwards AFB official story about filming
Scooped on Wednesday, May 27, 2009

An enlisted Edwards AFB airman's article about the Iron Man II filming has been published on the Air Force's Print News Today site. In addition to letting Air Force personnel know that the superhero sequel shot at the base the article also has quotes from director Jon Favreau, producer Denis Stewart and Colonel William Thornton, 412th Test Wing commander at the base.
"I really love the hospitality we've gotten here," Favreau said in the piece. "I'm grateful they've let us shoot here and when I saw the assets they've let us shoot and how cooperative they've been it makes me satisfied because they enjoyed the experience last time and they feel we've depicted them fairly."
About 60 members of the base were used for the scenes and some will be seen in the film. Two photos accompany the story showing Robert Downey Jr. and Favreau meeting with the base's commanders.
