May 3, 2009 - The Last Voyage of Demeter / Marcus Nispel in talks to direct

Scooped on Sunday, May 3, 2009

Friday the 13th remake director Marcus Nispel is in talks to helm The Last Voyage of Demeter, the offshoot of Bram Stoker's Dracula tale penned by Bragi Schut Jr. Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, The Time Traveler's Wife) was formerly attached to direct.

Schut's script was inspired by the section of Stoker's book which briefly chronicled the arrival of a deserted merchant vessel at the docks of Whitby. The Demeter was the ship that brought Dracula to England and during the vessel's ill-fated voyage its crew were picked off one-by-one by the count. Only the body of the Demeter captain was found by the dockside workers at Whitby, tied to the ship's steering wheel. Schut's screenplay expands on the final voyage of the ship as they are stalked by the vampire. [Full story]
