October 2, 2008 - 300 sequel

Scooped on Thursday, October 2, 2008

Finally we have solid confirmation that there is a concrete desire from the creators of both the 300 comic book as well as the hit movie to make a sequel, as well as information on what kind of story we'll see. While attending a special presentation of Watchmen footage to the online press, IESB.net asked 300 director Zack Snyder what, if any, ideas he had heard for the sequel or prequel to his film. Not only did IESB get what they asked for, they got it and more.

Snyder revealed that he had been in direct contact with 300 creator Frank Miller about what the artist/writer envisions for a sequel. Miller will write and draw the sequel to 300 in graphic novel format first before Snyder would consider turning it into a movie; that said, the filmmaker definately wants to be the one that makes the eventual sequel movie one day. As for the continuation's storyline, it would pick up after the conclusion of the Battle of Thermopylae and the start of the Battle of Plataea, the battle seen at the conclusion of the 300 movie where the lone survivor of Leonidas' men, Dilios, recounts the story of his king's final stand against the Persian armada. A year separates the two battles and that gulf of time will be where at least some of the 300 sequel's story will take place.

If he knew, Snyder didn't say how far Miller had gotten with the development of his new story or if the comic book legend had started writing/drawing it.
