Watch Anything Good Lately?

Netflixed Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. It was kinda dumb.

I saw Milk and Doubt. Both were extremely good. I didn't know Doubt had been adapted from a play. I expect that is a great experience as well.

I think Penn was awesome as Harvey Milk. His mannerisms were very well done.
Doubt had me going back and forth from one side to the other until the very end, and I don't think the writers took any cheap shots or cheats to do that, either. It was very well written. Whether the Father did anything inappropriate with *this* boy, is, of course, up in the air. Nothing gets answered for certain, and that was awesome!

In no particular order, except Twilight (which is good but the others are better, IMO).

- Seven Pounds: amazing selflessness example.

- Marley & Me: those who have/had a pet are in for quite a ride.

- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: "cherish every moment, because it will never come again".

- Twilight: nice to take a break from the usual canine teeth/blood bath fest vampire movie. And Kristen Stewart ain't bad in the eyes, either.

Are you serious about Twilight? Because I though that was the single most unintentionally hilarious movies I've ever seen. It's up there with Troll 2 for being so bad it's funny. And I kinda liked the book! Christ, that was bad.

I just saw Persepolis. That was a beautiful film.

Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner

Watched it for my graduate class on Indigenous media. It's the first feature film ever to be written, directed and acted entirely in Inuktitut, the language of Canada's Inuit people (also written, acted and directed by them as well). Almost three hours long, shot entirely on video, and a damn good movie. I think it's also in Canada's top ten films. Highly recommended.

As I said, it was nice to have a break from the usual vampire movie. I'd seen '30 Days of Night' and 'John Carpenters Vampires' a couple days before so it was quite different. Of course the movie had its 'WTF!?!?' moments.

Wasn't Nightbreed released in 1990?

It's one of the last live-action movies I remember using traditional matte paintings (as opposed to CG matte paintings) to extend backgrounds. I'm sure there were others, but Nightbreed is the one that stands out for me.

I don't recall what year it was released, but it definitely had no CGI in it. I also wonder how it turned out so damned awesome, and have been hoping to get a director's cut because from the sound of things, a lot of cool stuff got axed.

It still had a 80's feel to it for me. It is one of those movies you would like to know more about and instead of re-releasing Evil Dead for the 10th time why dont they give us a special edtion of this movie?

I just got a DVD of Man on Wire. That crazy Frenchman that did a tightrope act between the WTC towers. Amazing how he pulled that off.

There is no why

I'm taking my daughter (she's 6) to see it on Friday night. We'd have gone this weekend, but her schedule was just too hectic. I lurrrve Neil, and she's intrigued by the plot. We'll see how scared she gets.

I still felt the need for some classic cheese....so I went with Tremors2 and you know what, that film is pretty cool. There was more humor in it then the first which was not bad and it was cool to see Earl and Burt back at killing those damn Graboids.

I still have not seen 3 or 4 but I am kind of scared about that...Anyone see the 3 or 4?

The last one I saw was the second one, and that was way back when I was a high school junior.

I watched Lawnmower Man last night for the first time in years and that movie rocks! At times I thought it was going to go straight sci-fi channel cheese but decides to go the other way with some good acting, good effects and a well thought story.

Now, I know the sequal was not as good as the original but after seeing the first movie it made me want to watch its counterpart....We will see but if you have not seen this movie you should check it out, it has Peirce Bronson in it before he let Bond go to his head!

Just watched "Priceless" with Audrey Tautou....it was pretty good.

Was weird seeing Amelie being a confident seductress-whore. Great, but weird.

I have been going through a Carpenter watch lately: In the last week I have seen Escape From N.Y., Escape From L.A., Vampires, Ghosts of Mars and Big Trouble in Little China.

I figured I might as well go all out so I plan on watching Village of the Damned, Memories of an Invisable Man, Starman, Assault on Precient 13, The Fog and In the Mouth of Madness. (I have seen Halloween so many times I will most likely skip that.)

Sometimes I get these itches where I start to watch one Director/writer's work and then I have to see the other films they have done....I usually do that with John Carpenter, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Kevin Smith, James Cameron, Ridley Scott and Stanley Kubrick films.....Is anyone else like that?
