 Do you still have public libraries in the US?

Either there, or a good 2nd hand bookshop would be a good base for you?

We still have public libraries. 

Jubbers and I have somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 books. It's most of what we own. It's the thing that makes moving the most difficult for us.

We're probably going to start selling off some of our books. We could use the money, and we could use time and space it would save when it's time to move.

 You could try a pop-up 2nd hand bookshop?

We have those, too. They're pretty small when they're closed, but they're a lot bigger when they're open.

 PS- you got a Kindle??

I don't have a Kindle. Those things cost a fortune. I do, however, have the Kindle app for my PC. It cost me nothing. 

 Just read the most recent Temeraire book, which I mistakenly thought was the last Temeraire book. If I had known it would stop in the middle of a fucking battle with Napoleon, I would have waited until the next one came out. Dammit.

 You just made me Google Temeraire.

Might have to give them a try.......

 They're pretty interesting if you like alternate history ... But at times they can be that dry. Still, dragons!

I found the Anno Dracula books quite hard going after a while.  About the only alternate history tales I have spent any time on.

I'm writing an alternate history western. It is devoid of any trace of Horso.

I'm never falling for that lie again.

I ain't readin' shit.

How do you do that?  Cut it in half and count the rings?

Don't make the mistake of cutting it in half lengthwise. 

 Makes it seem younger.
